With «Beauty and the Beast», Disney created a masterpiece of animation cinema in 1991, which was subsequently awarded with over two dozen awards – including two Oscars® for the music. The story is about Belle, a radiantly beautiful and self-confident young woman who is captured by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the enchanted staff and learns that behind the beast's horrible appearance lies a true prince with a big heart. In 2017, director Bill Condon created a live action adaptation of the classic, featuring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson and others.
As with the first version, the Oscar®-winning Alan Menken contributed the music for the live action adaptation. During the performance of «Beauty and the Beast», the City Light Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anthony Gabriele plays the new, fresh orchestral score live.
